Health

Message/Experiment of the Week:

Are you healthy? Health is like love and freedom, we often don’t truly value it until we lose it. Here are a few things you can look at to get a rough idea of how healthy you are: Do you hang around healthy people? Do you prioritize sleep and get 7 to 8 hours of sleep per day? Do you eat a healthy diet with little to no sugar or simple carbs? Do you exercise daily and avoid sitting for long periods of time? Do you regularly check your health? Below are a few resources you can use to get empirical data about how healthy you really are. Also, here is a link to some great information from health and longevity expert Peter Diamandis about what he does daily to keep himself healthy and to live way past 100: https://www.diamandis.com/longevity

Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 Continuous Glucose Monitor (~$75 for 14 days): https://www.freestyle.abbott/us-en/products/freestyle-libre-3.html

Lifeforce: Measure 40+ Essential Biomarkers ($349 to start, and then $129/month if you want to continue): https://www.mylifeforce.com/product/membership

Oura Ring: Measures your sleep ($300 to $400 and ~$10/month subscription): https://ouraring.com/oura-experience

For an experiment this week focus on one thing you can do each day to become healthier (walk a mile, do burpees, no sugar, etc.), also ask your doctor about some of the items above and see what she/he says. Then write about the experience in your journal.

Quotes of the Week:

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered “Man! Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” - Attributed to the Dalai Lama, but likely another source

“The individual who has health has a thousand dreams. The one without it has but one.”
