Two Wolves

Message/Experiment of the Week:

Are you feeding the good wolf or the bad wolf in your life? There is a Native American legend about a good wolf and a bad wolf fighting inside of you, and the one that wins is the one that you feed. To see if you are feeding the good wolf, you can do an audit of where you spend your time and money (see Jay Shetty’s video below). If you are spending those two precious resources in ways that feel right to you, then you are likely feeding the good wolf. If not, realign them with what is really important to you.

For an experiment this week, figure out the top three things you spend your time and money on, and then decide whether each of them is feeding the good wolf or the bad wolf in your life.

Quotes of the Week:

  • "So, there’s this old legend of a Cherokee grandfather telling his story to his grandson…

And describing to his grandson this great battle that occurs within each one of us. He said: “Inside of each of us there’s this battle between these two wolves. One wolf is faith, and goodness, and openness and the other is fear. The other one is doubt, despair, and all these things are happening within each one of us—this fight between fear and love….

And then he stopped talking. And his grandson eventually asked him: “Well, Grandfather, which wolf will win?” And he said: “The one that you feed. The wolf that you feed will win.” - Nathan Mitchell, The Two Wolves | A Native American Legend (theanasaziway.com)

  • “The grass is greener where you water it.” - Jay Shetty
