Winning The Day

Message/Experiment of the Week:

Are you consistently moving towards the things you want in life? In the videos below Carrie Roberts and Kobe Bryant talk about the importance of focusing on what you want in life and taking steps toward it every day (for Kobe it was becoming the best basketball player in the world). You win the day when you end the day closer to what you want, and when you consistently win the day that is when dreams come true.

A simple way to start winning the day is to spend five minutes every day doing something that you know will move you closer to what you want in life. It could be running, writing, playing basketball, etc. Eventually, you want to get to the point where everything you do is moving you towards what you want in life, and you give your very best effort.

For an experiment this week, commit to doing one thing every day for 5 minutes that will move you closer to the life you want, and start winning the day.

Quotes of the Week:

  • “A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.” —James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

  • “Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.” —James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

  • “We stand at the crossroads, each minute, each hour, each day, making choices. We choose the thoughts we allow ourselves to think, the passions we allow ourselves to feel, and the actions we allow ourselves to perform. Each choice is made in the context of whatever value system we have selected to govern our lives. In selecting that value system, we are, in a very real way, making the most important choice we will ever make." —Benjamin Franklin, The Art of Virtue: His Formula for Successful Living
